Dvur Kralove Zoo - one of the most beautiful zoos in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. It was founded shortly after World War II.
The zoo in Dvur Kralove is in the number of animals held the largest facility of its kind in the country. At the outset, however, was only a few cages with European animals that were in place before private park and the city served as an adjunct Natural History Museum.
Officially, the zoo opened May 9, 1946, while the area at that time was 6.5 ha. The first administrator and also guided became Josef Fabian (1953). Modern pavilions, including one space for polar bears and elephants, began to emerge during the era of Francis Cisarovsky that drove garden between 1956 and 1965.
To further qualitative shift occurred as his successor Joseph Wagner, whose merit the garden began to specialize in African fauna. During expeditions to the Dark Continent were captured and then imported a number of species that became the basis of often unique breeds.
