Winter Olympics in Turin - took place in February 2006 as the order of the twentieth Winter Olympics. With a total of eleven gold, twelve silver and six bronze medals, the most successful countries became Germany.
Turin was chosen out of six candidates for the International Olympic Committee meeting in Seoul in June 1999. In the final vote came together with the Swiss town of Sion. It is interesting that among the candidates to host the Winter Olympics was the Slovak Tatra Poprad with its sports complex.
