Jost Luxembourg (1351 - 18 January 1411) - Moravian Margrave, king of the Holy Roman Empire and Elector of Brandenburg. He was the nephew of King Charles IV. Known also as Jobst of Moravia.
Jost of the Luxembourg dynasty was very ambitious and shrewd politician. Moravian Margrave became in 1375, the administration of the country, however, had to share with the youngest brother Prokop Luxembourg. Their rivalry and intolerance but escalated to a protracted military conflict.
From 1383 he worked in Jost significant as General imperial vicar for Italy, to which he appointed King Wenceslas IV.
Another career advancement and a path to wealth, he opened contacts with his cousin and King Sigismund of Luxembourg, which financially supported. The loan, which helped Sigismund to the Hungarian throne, received Jobst (along with brother Prokop) Prepurk and part of western Slovakia. Since the king was not able to return the money, he came to Jost further advantages: he could dispose of Brandenburg and imperial elector voice.
