South Bohemian Region - situated in the southern part of Bohemia near the border with Austria, in the southwest then adjacent to the German state of Bavaria. By 2001, the region was called Budweiser.
The biggest city and the seat of administration of the Czech Budejovice, numbering about 94,000 inhabitants. South Bohemian region is rich in cultural sights, such as castles, monasteries, rural and urban conservation. For the most part center of Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
South Bohemian region is also famous for its lakes, the largest of which is Rosenberg. With 489 hectares is the largest lake in the Czech Republic. South Bohemian Region consists of the districts of Czech Budejovice, Tabor, Jindrichuv Hradec, Strakonice, Pisek, Czech Krumlov and Prachatice.
The highest point in the county is Plech umava peak with an altitude of 1378 m. The mountain lies on the Czech-Austrian border.
