Pablo Picasso (25. 10. 1881 - 8. 4. 1973) - Spanish painter and sculptor, one of the founders of Cubism. Author of hundreds of exceptional works, including the famous painting Guernica.
Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born in the Spanish port city of Malaga, the family soon moved to La Coruna. His father, a painter and art teacher, he could not miss his son's extraordinary talent and taught him the basic techniques of drawing and painting. Already at the age of fourteen he enrolled in a course for advanced art in Barcelona. There, after a short study stay in Madrid, he returned and began his involvement into the social and political life. As a person rather leftist orientation appealed to him by the rebellious artists and intellectuals, among whom he soon won the respect. In 1901 he co-founded the magazine Arte Joven.
