Olga Havel (11. 7. 1933 - 27. 1. 1996) - first wife of Czech President Vaclav Havel, a dissident and founder of the Committee of Good Will - Olga Havel Foundation.
ikovsk-born Olga plchalov grew from just six years with her mother and two siblings, her father left the family. She grew up in poor conditions, therefore, willing to start as soon as possible and earn his own. She started as a troubleshooter stockings in the Bata factory, but in just sixteen years suffered a serious injury to his left hand. After recovering altered several other jobs: he worked as a storekeeper need or saleswoman.
Vaclav Havel met in 1956 at a cafe Slavia. Precisely because it started as biletka the Theatre on the Balustrade, where Havel worked. Marriage concluded after eight years, and soon bought a cottage in Hrdeek u Trutnova. Olga Havel's relationship with his mother, in which a young couple initially lived, for it was quite problematic.
Vaclav Havel did not leave even when he was persecuted and herself as a born rebel and courageous woman to direct a dissent actively involved.
In 1979 she co-founded the Committee for the Defense of the Unjustly Persecuted (VONS) and took the lead samizdat editions Expedition. After the Velvet Revolution Vaclav Havel and election to the presidency became the first lady of the country. In 1990 she founded the Goodwill, to which in September 1992 and established the Foundation Committee of Good Will - Olga Havel Foundation. The purpose of the organization is still helping the socially and physically challenged.
In 1997, granted the President of the Czech Republic Olga Havel Tom Garrigue Masaryk Order in memoriam.
