Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec - one of the largest sporting events held in the Czech Republic. Championship began February 18, 2009 and ended on March 1. The audience's interest, however, far from having reached the expected manner and championship ended in a financial loss.

organization of Liberec assigned the International Ski Federation (FIS) in 2004. The president of the organizing committee became excellent Czech athlete and Olympic champion in cross country skiing Neumannov�. They competed in cross-country skiing, ski jumping hill and nordic combined. The novelty was jumping competition on the normal hill women.

Substrate Preparation organizers underestimated: due to freezing weather in January 2009, created huge reserves of snow that have sustained even after the temperature rise at the beginning of February. Unfortunately, even despite a massive advertising campaign, the organizers failed to sell enough tickets. In addition, the whole organization of the championship was accompanied by confusion.

Competition Bureau, for example, stated that the city illegally divided the contract and awarded him more than six million fine. Total debt after the championship are given in the range of 70 to 100 million CZK. Some of the subjects on the organizer due to debts brought an action. Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec was attended by 660 athletes. It was the second world championship of its kind held in the Czech Republic (the first hosted J�nsk� Spa in 1925, two other High Tatras in 1935 and 1970).
