Miroslav Tyr
(September 17, 1832 Decin - August 8, 1884 tz, Tyrol) was a Czech critic and art historian, he participated in the establishment of organized physical education movement in Bohemia, especially Sokol. Czech esthetician, professor of history at the University and Technical University in Prague, Chairman of the Department of Fine Artistic Organization and member of the jury for sculptural decoration of the National Theatre.
Gymnastics club Sokol, however, did not establish itself. At the birth of this association were leaders of Czech politics and culture: the brothers Edward and Julius Grgrov (dr. Julius Grgr served 17.12 1861 draft statutes Gymnastics Prague to police headquarters), Josef Manes, Jan Neruda, JE Purkyn, Carolina lights and more. Sokol would not have been without major financial support Fgnera Henry, who was until his death Sokol. M.Tyr is the author of Fundamentals of physical education (completed Vilm Kurz).
K Sokol included the gymnastics club of ladies and girls in Prague. Name Sokol gave the league Emanuel Tonner (teacher), Fgner tykn and suggested the title "brother" and "sister" Manes designed costumes (garibaldiovsk red shirts from Fgnerova initiative), Josef Barak suggested greeting, "Hi!" Tyr and was the creator of the Sokol principles: strength and virility, activity and perseverance, love of freedom and homeland, voluntary work and discipline, mutual fraternal relationship with members.
The first Sokol was built according to the design Vojtcha Ignatius Ullmann (1863-1964) in Sokolsk street no. 1437 thanks to Henry Fgnera, who bequeathed the building Sokol.
