Bohumil Kubista ??strong> (21. 8. 1884 - 27. 11. 1918) - Czech painter, graphic artist, art theorist and critic. He was a member of the art group Osma.
Bohumil Kubista was born in Vlckovice of Hradec Kralove. In 1903 he joined the School of Applied Arts in Prague. Because of the distinctive views on art, however, contravening the school management, which culminated when his flight at the Academy of Fine Arts. There, however, did not finish, and after a year of military service, he went to France. He has participated in group exhibitions both Osma in the years 1907-1908 and became its unofficial spokesman. Advocated a new concept in fine art papers and fundamental theoretical considerations regarding the then culture.
On Kubitov early work shows the influence of Post-Impressionism Alfred Sisleye and Vincent van Gogh. A big inspiration was the work of Paul Czanne. His first cubist experiment called Smoker created in 1910. It was also the first recorded speech in Czech cubist art.
His surname binds one famous humorous observation. In France, namely the artist's name intrigued Guillaume Apollinaire, who noted that the Czechs have a painter, who was a "cubist" since birth.
Kubita was also a prominent critic and author of many art papers. Due to subsistence difficulties again joined the army, where he worked at a coastal artillery in Pula, Croatia. During the war years, when staying in Italy acquainted with Futurism and Fauvism. He died at only thirty-four years as a result of the Spanish flu in the year of 1918.
