Karel Gott - the legendary Czech singer focused mainly on the genre of pop music. Apart from domestic achieved fame and abroad, mostly in German-speaking countries, Russia and countries of the former Eastern Bloc. It is the record holder in polls and Czech Golden Nightingale, where he won a total of sedmat�icetkr�t.

Karel Gott was born on July 14, 1939 in London. Originally he wanted to become a painter, studied at the School of Fine Arts (Applied Arts), however, did not work out, so he trained as an electrician at the company CKD Prague. Even after years of apprenticeship was interested in music and as an amateur singer who has performed even after leaving school. In 1958 he joined a competition looking for new talent, which was held in Prague Slavic house. And the audience was impressed. But not to the expert committee. Karla failure did not discourage and increasingly appeared in Prague jazz cafes Vltava and Alfa.

In 1960 he left the CKD that entered the Prague Conservatory and became a professional musician. His teacher was �aljapin�v pupil, tenor Konstantin Karenin, who Gott's extraordinary vocal technically fully developed and had cultivated.

Karel Gott has collected thousands of concerts around the world, has become a mainstay especially in German-speaking countries and Russia, but also featured in USA, Japan, Israel and Australia, for example. The charismatic singer with the public also scores points for its versatility, since it is able to handle pop, rock and roll and demanding singing technique. His life is one hobby besides music also painting, to which he returned after many years.

In 1977 he received the title of Merited Artist, in 1985, then became a national artist. Seven years later he won a Diamond Record Supraphon for 13 million sold sound carriers. Since President Vaclav Klaus received the 2009 Medal of Merit of the first degree.
