Jan Zelezny - (16. 6. 1966) - Czech javelin, triple world champion and multiple record holder. In 2000 he was named athletes of the world, twice athlete Europe and four times he won the Czech Athlete of the Year poll.
Jan Zelezny was born in Mlada Boleslav. The world came prematurely already in the 7th month, as a child then suffered from various illnesses and ailments. His parents were active athletes and the sport has brought a son. Their performance began to improve dramatically after the onset of the army, where he was assigned to the Army sports club Dukla Bansk Bystrica. Soldier stayed and attained the rank of major.
In 1987, he threw his first world record (87.66 meters) and the World Championships in Rome won the first medal for third place. The following year at the Olympics in Seoul, he won silver when he only narrowly overcame Finn Tapio Korjus.

Another world record (89.66 meters) added to the athletic meeting in Oslo, but also fallen on serious health problems, which prepared him twice on qualification for the World Cup.
At the Summer Olympics in Barcelona (1992), however, has once again demonstrated in full force: he won his first Olympic gold. The other two then joined at the Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000).
At the world championships excelled in 1993, 1995 and 2001, when the longest throws the javelin gold medal. At the World Championships in Seville in 1999, he won another bronze. The last medal, a bronze, won seven years later at the European Championships in Gothenburg. Sports career officially ended at a meeting in Mlada Boleslav, which was held on 19 October 2006.
