Codex Gigas - The largest manuscript in the world. Codex Gigas is rightly described as medieval div.
The legend says that Codex Gigas wrote a single night, a monk of the Benedictine monastery in Podlaice on Chrudimsku. To do so is said to evade punishment for their sins. Knowing that the task is beyond his power, he asked for help the Devil for display in his book. Therefore, for the file took the name Devil's Bible.
As professional research suggests, in fact manuscript originated sometime between 1204 and 1229. Text is most likely wrote one scribe, which shows the overall composition of a single font style. The only exceptions are part of the notes that came later.
The book amazes its size: it measures 900 x 505 mm and weighs an impressive 75 kg. Wooden boards hiding 312 parchment leaves, but they were originally eight more.
The contents consist of fourteen diverse Latin texts, with initial occupies a third of the biblical Old Testament.
