Marie Spanish (21. 6. 1528 - 26. 2. 1603) - wife of Emperor and Czech and Hungarian King Maximilian II. Habsburg. Her parents were Spanish King Charles V and his wife Isabella of Portugal. Spanish Marie was the mother of Emperor Rudolf II. Habsburg.
Mary was destined as husband Archduke Maximilian, the future Emperor and King, as well as her cousin. Marriage pair closed in 1548 in Valladolid and after Maximilian was inducted into the office of the Spanish governor. After the withdrawal of a forced stay at the court in Vienna in 1521 went to Madrid for his wife. Accompanied by the number of Czech nobles who both waited in Genoa, Italy. On the way back accompaniments Maximilian and Marie converged so that later there have been several marriages between Czechs and Spanish. By the way, the relationship of Vratislava Perntejna and Marie Manrique de Lara was born Polyxena, who later donated to the monastery of the Discalced Carmelites in Prague statue known as the Infant Jesus of Prague.

Marie was in fact a strict Catholic, while Maximilian showed sympathy towards Protestantism and among Protestants also had a lot of friends. After his death, Marie lived for several years in Prague, in 1581, she went back to Spain, where they lived in peace for another twenty years.
