Joanna of Bavaria (1356 - 31, 12 1386) - first wife of King Wenceslas IV. Came from an old German House of Wittelsbach. Her parents were Bavarian Duke Albrecht I. and Margaret Bezsk.
The wife of nine years of Wenceslas IV. Johannah became at the age of fourteen years. The wedding took place on 29 September 1370 in Nuremberg and the same year was in Prague Prague Archbishop John Ocko Czech crowned queen.
Architect of marriage was Charles IV., Who disrupted by dropping the Bavarian Wittelsbach alliance with the Hungarian and Polish king. Under its influence also received Wittelsbach controlled Margraviate of Brandenburg, which in 1373 incorporated into a bundle of Czech lands. As partners, spouses began performing in public just before reaching Wenceslaus fifteen years, it happened in 1376, if they were in Aachen crowned German king and queen. Until then lived a young Czech queen at Prague Castle and prepare themselves to meet the royal role. Johana was not trying to not stand out from the shadow of her husband, and their relationship was by all indications warm. This is indicated by the fact that when the queen last December 1386 to Karltejn died, she dressed Vclav costly funeral, which, however, did not attend himself. Besides grief could be the reason of absence and self-reproach, it is likely that Johan had killed one of Wenceslaus hunting dogs. Another wife, Sophie of Bavaria, Vaclav take up to three years. Both marriages remained without descendants.
