Barack Obama (4. 8. 1961) - forty-fourth President of the United States of America. In 2009 he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father was Kenyan, which in the US gained scholarship. Then, when he became a doctor, flew back to Kenya and joined the country's policy. (In 1982, died in a car accident). With Obama's mother Ann Dunham American woman broke when their son two years. Obama spent his childhood in Honolulu and Jakarta, Indonesia, where his mother later married. In 1971, however, due to better learning opportunities for grandparents returned to Hawaii.
After graduating from high school in Honolulu continued his studies at Occidental College in Los Angeles, during which, however, he transferred to Columbia University in New York, where he studied political science. In 1983 he earned a bachelor. After graduation he worked as a community worker in New York and in Chicago (where he worked in the sprawling shanty township Far South Side). Extended his education at the Law School of Harvard University, where he graduated with honors in 1991. A year later he married lawyer Michelle Robinson, worked for the law firm Miner, Barnhill & Galland, while also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago. In 1995 he wrote an autobiography Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and inheritance (Dreams of my Father: A Story of race and inheritance), which became a bestseller in the USA.
In 1996 he became a senator in Illinois, four years later unsuccessfully ran for the House of Representatives. Members of Congress became the second attempt in 2004 and in February 2007 announced candidacy for President of the United States. The campaign, which was the most expensive in the history of America, expressed as a rapid withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, the availability of health care for all Americans, emphasizing the need for US energy independence. The charismatic candidate for the Democratic Party soon gained the sympathy of the people, not only at home but also around the world. In the elections on November 4, 2008 defeated Republican John McCain and became the first US president ever darker skin.
