Astronomical Clock - astronomical clock tower in Prague Old Town Hall. Were constructed during the reign of Wenceslas IV. The clock is part of the city's historic center, which is registered on the UNESCO list.
Astronomical Clock, one of the greatest tourist attractions of Prague, was constructed in 1410. Its implementation was involved in a number of experts of the time. The machine itself created clockmaker Mikulas of Kadan, probably designed by John Šindela, who later became a professor of mathematics and astronomy at Charles University.
The center of the clock consists of astronomical dial, over which the two windows appear hourly figures of the Twelve Apostles. Besides various times (old Czech, Central European, Babylonian and stellar) informs also about eg phase of the moon and the sun is in the background of the zodiac. City Hall commissioned a report by the watchmaking firm, which recommended disposal and replacement by a new mechanism. Only through the dedication of one of the company's employees, which the device of their own accord reconstructed remained preserved monument and following generations.
