Auguste Lumiere (19. 10. 1862 - 10. 4. 1954) - French inventor and industrialist. Together with his brother Louis built a cinematograph, which became the predecessor of modern projectors. Was patented on February 13, 1895. The brothers also successfully experimented with color photography. Their technology Autochrome Lumiere , patented in 1903, has become relatively affordable and achieved world popularity.

Lumiere brothers first publicly screened December 28, 1895 in the hall of the hotel's Grand Caf� in Paris.
