Antonn vehla (15. 4. 1873 - 12. 12. 1933) - Czech and later Czechoslovak politician, Prime Minister of the three pre-war governments. Before the founding of Czechoslovakia, one of the leaders of the anti-Austrian resistance, collaborator Tomas Garrigue Masaryk. On October 28, participated in the proclamation of the independent Czechoslovak state, the same year he became a member of the National Assembly.
Antonn vehla was born in Hostivai (now part of Prague), where after the death of his father led the family farm. Before the founding of Czechoslovakia was involved in the Czech farmers' associations, which in 1902 became vice-chairman, and later worked as a member of the Provincial Assembly. He was also a co-founder of the magazine countryside, which began publication in 1906. vehla was involved in the Agrarian Party and in 1909 became its chairman.
Along with Rasin, Soukup, Silver and robra belongs to the group of "men on October 28," as it was called five politicians who organized the coup leading to the creation of independent Czechoslovakia.
As interior minister in the 1918-1920 period vehla significantly contributed to the establishment of the first Czechoslovak Constitution. From 1922 to 1929 he was chairman of the three Czechoslovak governments. In 1927 he was even nominated a presidential candidate, but that refused to stand up for reelection Tomas G. Masaryk.
