Antonn Dvok (8 September 1841- May 1, 1904) - world-famous Czech composer. Already during his lifetime he became the most played Czech composer of classical music.
Antonn Dvok was born in the village of Nelahozeves near Kralupy nad Vltavou. Originally it was to become a butcher, like his father. Even in his childhood amazed his musical talent, which he later helped develop teacher and an excellent musician Antonin Liehmann. He also convinced his father to allow extremely talented Anthony devote himself fully to music. In his sixteen years as young Dvok he left to study at the biennial organ school in Prague (Institute for Church Music). The world of great music, he managed to come in 1862, when it was opened Provisional Theatre. In it, he began working as a viola player, often conducted by Bedrich Smetana. When studying scores of great masters also began to compose himself. Most of the work from this period, however, the actual criticism rather destroyed. The first work that he decided to venture into the world was String Quintet and M , which assigned opus number 1. It still nezavril or twentieth year of age.
In 1873, Dvok married Anna ermkov, with whom he had nine children, adults, six of them survived. Two years later he won as a young artist scholarship of 400 florins which for a family that struggled with existential difficulties posed significant relief. This support, and a career Dvokovi significantly helped German composer Johannes Brahms, with whom Czech musician friends.
In 1878, Antonin Dvorak wrote the first series Slavonic Dances , the works, which became famous worldwide. Ten years later in Prague, met with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who offered him a tour of Russia. In 1889, then with great success attended concerts in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
In the years 1892-1895 he worked Dvorak in America, where he invited the founder of the American National Conservatory in New York Jeanette Thurber.
Dvok as a composer was extraordinarily prolific and versatile. Not remain perhaps the only musical form, which would have missed. Formed symphonic poems, rhapsodies, vocal and instrumental pieces, serenades, wrote operas.
He was also an outstanding teacher. In 1901 he began working as a professor at the Prague Conservatory, where he brought a variety of personalities. Among them was Josef Suk, who later became Dvorak's son in law. Among the well-known operas include Antonin Dvorak Rusalka , The Devil and Kate , The Jacobin , Dimitri or The King and Uhlir .
After the death of Antonin Dvorak's body was placed on Vysehrad.
