Vclav Hollar (13. 7. 1607 - 28. 3. 1677) - world-famous Czech Baroque engraver and draftsman. Author portraits, illustrations, maps and panoramic scenery.
Vclav Hollar was born in Prague, a considerable part of his life he spent abroad. Today it is recognized in Germany and England. He left a work of immense artistic but also historical value. Places visited is carefully recorded and then the technique of engraving and etching created remarkable graphics. Scenery captured with precision and without effort to improve the reality of his work thus testify to the former shape of the world. He noted, for example, so old London before him in 1666 was destroyed by fire. Hollar also formed various thumbnails, illustrations, modeled on works by famous masters, often outlasted the original.
