�vihov - a moat surrounded by Gothic castle is located in �vihov on Klatovsku. It was founded in 1480 by the Royal JUDGE P�ta �vihovsk�m on the spot where once stood the fortress.

The founder of the castle P�ta �vihovsk� born of the genus R�zmberk. Amassed a considerable fortune in the service of King Vladislav II. Jagiello, so that was one of the most powerful and influential chiefs of the Czech Kingdom. During the construction of the castle were used under the old fortress that was destroyed during the Hussite wars. On completion participated in the famous architect Benedikt Rejt from P�stov. Nevertheless, it is not a castle on top of a steep mountain, was very strongly fortified and his defense was amplified by two moats fed by the river �hlava. During the Thirty Years War it twice without success attacked the Swedes eventually settled with just looting Clun. The disaster, however, should come from an unexpected quarter: Emperor Ferdinand III. after the end of a devastating conflict decided to demolish the castle. He wanted to eliminate places where they could fortify the rebels and marauding gangs. To meet its revenue last but not so the monument were preserved until the present day.
