Matica Slovak - Slovak national educational and cultural institution established in Martin.
The need to establish an organization that will support and develop the Slovak national consciousness, first formulated writer Pavel Josef Safarik in the letter sent in 1827 Jn Kollr. afak inspired a year earlier caused Matica srpska, she was the first among similar Slavic societies.
