ABOUT 200 Kč Alois Klar b.k.
On 10 April 2013 the Czech National Bank is putting into circulation a CZK 200 commemorative silver coin to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Aloys Klar, founder of a hospital for the blind. The coin is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper and is issued in two versions, normal quality and proof quality, which differ in surface treatment and edge marking. Proof-quality coins have a highly polished field, a matt relief and a plain edge with the inscription ESK NRODN BANKA * Ag 0.925 * 13 g *. Normal quality coins have milled edges. The coin is 31 mm in diameter, weighs 13 g and is 2.2 mm thick. As with any other coins, deviations in diameter of 0.1 mm and thickness of 0.15 mm are allowed. Upward deviations in weight of 0.26 g and silver content of 1% are permitted.
The obverse side of the coin features a hand reading Braille on a Picht braillewriter. Below the hand are the denomination and the abbreviated monetary unit K 200. The name of the state ESK REPUBLIKA is on the braillewriter. An example of the Braille alphabet is located in the lower part of the braillewriter. Below the braillewriter is the inscription Aloys Klar in Braille. The coin was minted by the Czech Mint. Its mark, in the form of the letters Ȕ and M, is located to the right of the braillewriter. The reverse side of the coin features a portrait of Aloys Klar; its right-hand part is partly covered by an image of Aloys Klars hospital for the blind and by his signature. The inscription ALOYS KLAR is located near the left-hand edge of the coin. To the left of the portrait are the years 1763 and 2013. The coin was designed by Branislav Ronai. His initials made up of the intertwined letters BR are below the collar in the portrait.
Each coin comes with a grey catalogue card containing a description of the coin, its relief and the text Aloys Klar printed in Braille.
