Czech Ice Hockey Association (SLH) - was founded in 1908 on the initiative of Slavia officials Emil walks. He also since 1911 he became chairman of the Association, and thanks to his initiative Bohemia was admitted to the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation).
The inaugural meeting of December 11, 1908 was attended by representatives of twelve Czech sports clubs. For disagreements among delegates Slavia and Sparta, however, the meeting had yet to be repeated several times. Before World War I came up under the auspices of Association continuously around twenty clubs.
After the creation of Czechoslovakia, the name was changed to the Czechoslovak Union hockey (SSH). Under the organization also fell bandy hockey (played on the ice with the ball) and field hockey. In 1921, the organization changed its name to the Czech Association of Canadian hockey, two years later there was a rupture and formation of parallel Czechoslovak Association of Canadian hockey (SAKH). Sums merger took place before the European Championship in ice hockey in 1925, which took place at Strbske Pleso and Stary Smokovec and where then Czechoslovak hockey team won the title. Ice hockey thanks to the success gained more and more popularity among the public and the athletes themselves. In 1938 in Czechoslovakia there were 361 clubs, among which were also those who represented the German and Hungarian minorities.
SLH organization manages I. and II. Men's Hockey League, a league of women and extraligy students, cadets and juniors. At lower levels of the competition organized by regional associations. Currently, Czech Ice Hockey Association has around 95,000 members.
