ABOUT 10 000 Sk 2003 10. výročí vzniku SR

The democratic revolution of November 1989 put an end to the communist regime in Czechoslovakia and initiated the introduction of social and economic reforms. It also led to a new form of constitution, which, due to the different views of the Slovak and Czech ruling parties at the time, led to the dissolution of the Czechoslovak Federation.

The Slovak Republic as a sovereign state came into being on 1 January 1993. It joined the group of sovereign and democratic states and manifested its will to cooperate with all democratic countries of the world. Already in its first year it had become a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe and had signed the European Community Association Agreement. In 2000 it became a member of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development to join a group of the 30 most developed countries of the world. In 2002 Slovakia became one of the strongest candidates for membership in NATO and the European Union.

Description of the coin

Obverse:
On the obverse of the coin, the head of young girl is placed on a palladium blank in the center of the field. Around it on the gold blank is the name of the state SLOVENSKA REPUBLIKA. The central motif is supplanted by the state shield, the year 2003, and an ornament in the form of lime leaves placed at the top and on the left and right sides of the coin.

Reverse:
On the reverse, the silhouette of Bratislava Castle is depicted on a palladium blank in the center of the field. Around it on the gold blank is the inscription "10 ROKOV SLOVENSKEJ REPUBLIKY" (10 years of the Slovak Republic). In the background is an outline of the map of Slovakia. To the left is the presidential standard with a lime leaf and to the right a lime twig. At the top is a lime leaf with the years 1993 and 2003, indicating the year of the origin and the tenth anniversary of the Slovak Republic. At the bottom is the face value of 10 000 Sk.
